Hello Everyone,

This is the forum of Oakworth Village.

We have provided this advertisement free forum for your ease of use.
If you'd like to post messages you must register first, and this is quite easy.
Please use a valid email address, and you will receive an email confirming your user name and password. Please retain the information in this email as we have no way to confirm it for you, and should you forget, you'll have to register again.

The Oakworth Forum is a place for discussions concerning all aspects of Oakworth Village. Feel free to discuss anything to do with Oakworth and the people, places, and/or events involved with the village. You can also use the forum to post suggestions for improvements to our website.
By posting in our Forum, you are acknowledging that you have read these rules and that you agree to abide by them at all times.

Disclaimer

Though the Forum is part of the Oakworth Village website, the opinions expressed here are the responsibility of the posters and do not reflect the opinions or position of the owners of the website.

Rules

Our rules are simple and pretty much common sense:

No Off Topic/Inappropriate Posts:

Keep the subject to do with the village please. No spam, rude or offensive posts.
Anything we judge to be off topic is subject to potential removal.

No Personal Attacks:

Some topics can potentially ignite heated debate. Not everyone may agree with your opinion or ideas. If you don't like someone's opinion, do not take it out on them personally. On the other hand, just because someone disagrees with your opinion, do not assume that they are personally attacking you. Its a simple fact that not everyone gets along. Regardless, when dealing with each other, keep a level head and an open mind. Stick to facts, treat each other politely and don't bicker. If you feel you have been subjected to a personal attack, please inform our forum administrators.

No "Flame Wars":

We will not tolerate users who deliberately start topics that are offensive or who post controversial things clearly intended to provoke other users. At the same time, we understand that some people are offended easily - something that may seem bonafide to one person may offend another. In such instances, we'll reserve the right to allow or stop the topic. Our view is that if a topic is legitimate, and is clearly not meant to deliberately target, shock or outrage people, then it should be allowed. If its clearly to start trouble, it will be removed.

No Bigotry:

Xenophobes are not welcome here. Absolutely no racial, sexual, religious, economic, social, political or nationality based attacks will be tolerated. Its just not necessary considering the subject matter this board is intended for. We have readers of all ages, sexes, races, religions and nationalities here. We welcome ALL who are interested in Oakworth village.

No False Identities:

Do not intentionally pose as someone else:

Identity theft (faking someone else's ID/name) IS a crime and it can be tracked and violators prosecuted. The old days of Internet Immunity are now gone. Be yourself. This does not apply to aliases though- if you have an alias that you like to use regularly, and it is your own creation/something you are identified with, please feel free to use it.

Keep it Clean:

Avoid use of curse/swear words. Use substitute words or asterisks (*) if need be. This is simply because children use this website as a learning tool. Though we do not wish curse words to be used, we must acknowledge that some may slip by. With that in mind, we ask parents of readers who are under 18, as well as those adult readers who are offended by such language to understand that we cannot always catch these things. Should you see anything offensive, please report it and we'll attend to it as soon as we can.

Text Speak:

This is a forum, used by people with computers with keyboards.
Please keep the text speak to a minimum, it's not your mobile phone and it doesn't cost anything to post messages. Feel free to use all the letters on the keyboard.

No SPAM or Unauthorised advertising:

Deliberately/maliciously flooding the Forum with multiple messages via SPAM will not be tolerated.

Advertising Restrictions: Advertising IS permitted, but only if the items being advertised are Oakworth-related and the posts have been cleared by website staff first.

No Modifying Posts after they've been Responded to:

You may not change posts after others have responded to said posts. We realise that people make mistakes and are embarrassed by them, but once said mistake has been replied to/addressed in subsequent posts, it is too late. Changing things after the fact can throw off other answers and make other posters look bad. No matter how embarrassing, we must all be brave enough to take responsibility for our words or mistakes. Naturally, if it is unbearable to you, then please contact our forum administrators and they can determine if the words should be removed. Of course, DO feel free to modify posts that no one has yet responded to.

We believe in freedom of speech and expression, however, this is our forum and you are a guest here. As a matter of respect and decorum, don't publicly insult your host. If you have a complaint or a problem with something we have done or is believed to have done, please contact our us privately. We will definitely address the issue.

So, if we all keep it clean, civil and to the point, things should run very smoothly. If you feel that a particular post or user has violated these guidelines, please contact our website administrator at webmaster@oakworthvillage.com
