Each year I make the pilgrimage down into England to fish for barbel - the poor mans salmon !
I am aware that only one river in Scotland contains this coarse fish species. I don't know much more than that though. Does anyone have details of where to go for permits and for which stretches of river etc. ?
Thanks

Hi Bill, I used to be quite heavily into course fishing but I haven't heard of barbel in Scotland. I've been out of touch for quite a few years now so this may have been a recent development.
I do know that if you want to know anything about course fishing in Scotland you will be hard pressed to find a more knowledgable man that Nigel Foulds and JB Fishing Tackle in Kirkintilloch... _________________ Cheers,

My apologies for not replying sooner lads.
The only river in Scotland with barbel in it that I know of is the Clyde. They have been in there for several years now but in a river the size of the Clyde locating them is difficult to say the least !
Thanks for the replies, I had begun to think nobody was going to reply and I'd stopped looking !
