Well I talked my mom into letting me get the fiber optics internet and you wanna see fast? I was waiting for some enhancements to download for my media player and they were done!!!! I was so used to waiting for half hour to hour as opposed to 37 seconds. I will pay the bill because being the the Senated committee I need this puter up and running. I can't trun it off so at night standby and I reboot windows in the morning when my coffee runs through my stomach. FIOS....FIBER OPTICS WHO WOULDA THUNK????? _________________ FRAN

I have 2 PCs at my house that have not been turned off for 10 months. By the time most of the components will die a natural death from being used, they will be so archaic as to be useless. If the PC is going slower or something after having been on for a while or you need to reboot to recover memory, there is something wrong with your rig.
As for the high speed internet - Yeah once you get used to decent connection speeds, there is no way to go back. I won't even bother if it takes time to load sites. I have a friend who still has dial up. Might as well live in a cave. I say that but I'm also the last living human without a cell phone. I go from my home phone to the phone on my desk every day. that leaves about 10 minutes a day where a phone isn't near me. I don't even like talking on the phone. But the kids are making me get one. Maybe so they can borrow it. _________________ "The heat came 'round and busted me for smilin' on a cloudy day" |

Hi there fran!!!
Its been awhile...I was wondering where you had gotten off to..Actually I figured you had been super busy with the committee and simply hadnt had time to post..Sort of like me with my newish job I barely have the time or energy to get online and read the posts every few days much less post..But I am generally here somewhere no more than every 2-3days..
Anyways I am glad to see ur doing well and like ur new internet..I personally have cable internet and actually one of the slower ones offered due to my money situation but its still plenty fast enough for me..Doesnt take much time at all to download anything or to load a page.. Enough about my net bussiness,lol...Hope to see more of you now that u have your pc back up and running full time...Take care and have a great weekend...
Your TN friend....

Hey guys, that post from Fran is from 2 years ago. True that there haven't been any posts from her lately -- really hope she is doing well.

| Funny how we get our panties in a bunch when waiting for just a few seconds for these crazy machines to spew out incredible bits of information! Like 3 seconds seems like an eternity... I find myself saying "come on come on" if it isn't totally INSTANT~ if it isn't Instant it isn't gratifying enough, well, for most things in life anyway, I still prefer sex to last a little bit longer than a few seconds, but as long as i get......... |

I'm still on dial up, and don't wait 3 seconds for pages to load more like 10 minutes or even 15 sometimes. I click on something and go into another room, get a task done and come back to see if the page has developed yet. I hate all those damn little moving gifs. Why can't they just make pages with text only.
So speak for yourself ;) (about panties in a knot) lol |

Karan, I think you can adjust your browser settings to "text only" or to "block images". That way you wouldn't have to wait for the images to load.
Try some Google searches like:
load text only
text only browser
text only browsing
change browser settings to text only
You can also go to Tools, Options (in your current browser window) and see if you can find a setting to block images.
You might also be interested in the Chrome browser, which is faster than Explorer and Firefox.
Also I just discovered Lynx, which is a text only browser.
