Hi, I have been on MMT for about 9yrs. I am trying to learn about Buprenorphine so I can concider if it would be an alternative for me instead of MMT. My concern is pain control. I have pain issues. I read online somewhere that if you are on Burp. that if you find yourself in pain like with a sudden toothache or you are in an accident and need pain control that you are just out of luck if you are on Burp because there is no pain med that will cross it it enable any pain control. Is this true?? Anyone that can give me straight information on this I would be grateful. Thanks in advance. _________________ Methadoneangel |

Hello, I switched from 120-130mgs methadone to bup. I have been lucky and haven't had any pain in the 16 months I have been on bup. I am not sure what kind of blockade I have right now (nothing but bup for 16 months)but I am sure its substantial. That said, I had a blockade when I was on methadone. When I was on 130mgs methadone I couldn't feel 80mgs oxycodone. I took a dozen of those during the course of the day and didn't really feel anything. If you have a pain management that will work while on your current dose of methadone, I don't think I would switch. _________________ May I be forever grateful that at times, I did not receive that which I truly deserved. |
